How to Choose the Perfect Haircut

The shape of your face and the type of your hair will determine which haircuts will look better or worst on you. Don’t worry, there’s a perfect haircut for everyone and with our help you’ll find it!

In all of our years of service we’ve learned that shoulder-length haircuts are the most universally flattering because that medium length matches every face shape. Remember that short hair will make a round face look more circular and long hair on a long face will make it look even longer.

We refer to long hair when it is below your shoulders, and without paying attention to trends we believe that it’s not for everyone. For example, short women with long hair will look too juvenile and not in a flattering way. Also if you have a narrow face, long hair will make your face look longer than it really is.

Nevertheless, if long hair is what you want, regardless of the shape of your face, a V-Cut should look at least OK. With the long part flowing down your back and the sides being shorter, you won’t have to worry about your face getting distorted in any way.

It’s even more tricky deciding whether a short haircut looks good before doing it because it will also depend on your personality. Still, what you should know is that if you have a circular face, keeping your hair above your chin is dangerous because it might give the sensation that your face is chubbier than it really is. With pointy chins the right thing to do would be to keep the hair above or below the chin. If you like your eyes and you would like to highlight them, a bang swept to one side would do the trick and it’s even better with a short haircut that leaves your ears to the open.

Now let’s talk a little bit about textures. Stringy hair shouldn’t be kept too long below the shoulders because it will look drained and bleaky. Thin hair tends to look better the shorter it is. On the other hand, if you have thick hair and curls, length should add weight making it look healthier and less prone to frizz. If you have straight hair, the best way to add volume and body  is to cut it in layers.

With this simple tips you can start searching for a haircut that you like and if you are doubtful, you can always come to our studio and we will clear out everything for you!
